The ground rules for using this site and for booking a place on a BE Academy course.
BE Academy is a training brand of British Engineers. The company that provides the courses and runs this site is Focus Lens LTD, company number 15777574 (“we”, “us”). You can contact us at academy@british-engineers.com or on 07386 041 147. By using this site or booking a place you agree to these terms.
The information on this site is for general information about our courses. We try to keep it accurate and up to date, but course dates, availability and prices can change, so please check with us before you rely on them. The content of this site belongs to us or is used with permission; please do not copy or reuse it without asking.
You can create a student account with an email address you can read. Please give accurate details, keep your password private and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. Creating an account does not book or confirm a place on a course. A place exists only when a member of our team confirms it. We may close an account that is used in a way that puts our systems, staff or other students at risk. How we use your information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Asking for a place, joining a waiting list or sending a registration form is a request, not a booking. We confirm a place with you directly, and a place is yours once we have confirmed it. Each group is limited to six people. If a course is full or has to change, we will tell you and offer a place on a later date wherever we can.
A £50 priority deposit secures your seat. At the founding price of £445 the deposit comes off the course fee, and the balance is paid before the course begins. The fee covers tools, equipment and course materials. All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP). We may agree a different payment arrangement with you; any such arrangement is valid only when we have confirmed it. Prices shown can change for future courses, but never for a place we have already confirmed.
Cancellations, deposit refunds and moving to a later date are covered by our Cancellation and Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms. This does not affect any rights you have under UK consumer law.
The course is practical and held in our Greater Manchester workshop; we send the address and travel details once your place is confirmed. Please arrive on time, follow the trainer’s safety instructions and treat equipment, staff and other students with respect. We may ask someone who behaves unsafely or disrupts the course to leave, and in that case we may not be able to refund the fee.
People who complete the course receive a Certificate of Completion issued by British Engineers. It confirms that you completed the course. It is not a licence, a regulated qualification or a guarantee of employment, and we do not place people in jobs. You are responsible for working safely and lawfully when you carry out installations after the course.
We will provide the course with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Otherwise, we are not responsible for losses that were not a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms, or for losses to a business or trade you carry on after the course.
If you are unhappy with anything, tell us at academy@british-engineers.com or by phone and we will do our best to put it right.
We may update these terms and will change the date at the top when we do. The terms in force when you book a place apply to that booking. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute, unless the law where you live gives you the right to use your local courts.
